Individual Therapy for Anxiety and Self-Worth

Online and in-person therapy in Northern Virginia

Are you crumbling under the weight of other’s expectations?

You find yourself constantly on the lookout for what others may need and worried about how they will react. Chronically fearful that they won’t like you and do everything you can to try and prevent others from feeling disappointed, burdened, or upset with you.

As a result, you have become an expert at anticipating other people’s needs, saying “yes” to every task, and not asking for help. “Sorry” has become a staple of your vocabulary and others tell you constantly to stop apologizing. You have found yourself needing to control every situation in order for everything to work out perfectly, despite the stress it brings you.

This has led you to a state of constant worry and self-doubt. You struggle with knowing how you really feel. Stuck in a cycle of showing up for others with a smile on your face until you have nothing left to give. Only to find yourself burnt out, wanting to hide away and never see anyone again. You’re left feeling resentful towards the people you love most, compounding the guilt and anxiety you have been struggling with.

Individual Counseling for Anxiety and Self-worth

Imagine Feeling Confident and Empowered in Knowing Who You Are.

A life where you freely express your authentic self. A life where you trust yourself and your experiences. Knowing that when someone disagrees or is unhappy it doesn’t automatically mean you did something “wrong” or are “bad”. A life where you can let go of the label of the “good kid”. You have discovered that you can be just as compassionate to yourself as you are to others. You know that saying “yes” to yourself allows you to feel more connected to yourself and your loved ones. You have found balance.

This life is closer than you realize…

…And we will work together to get you there. Taking the time to understand how you feel in these moments and the responses that follow. We will explore your life experiences, where you learned to respond in these ways, and the meanings you made of them that helped create these patterns of people pleasing and perfectionism. We will explore the feelings of anxiety, guilt, burn out, and whatever other emotions that are haunting you. With this understanding we will lean in and unburden the parts of you carrying these painful emotions and ways of being. This will lead you to find clarity, confidence, and peace in knowing and showing who you are to the world.

“The opposite of anxiety isn’t calm, it is trust.”
